Slow Living Book Recommendations

The last time I checked, we all enjoyed some time to ourselves and a Sunday morning lie in. So why are we all opting to achieve the opposite?

Here at molino, we truly believe in the power of slowing down. In today’s society being “busy and tired” is fashionable. It has become the new norm and a way to prove success and worth. But I think we should stop and question why we are all striving to be busy and tired? The last time I checked, we all enjoyed some time to ourselves and a Sunday morning lie in. So why are we all opting to achieve the opposite?

The concept of Slow Living was always something I incorporated into my everyday without even knowing it. I was never one to always be rushing here there and everywhere, trying to fit everything in whilst never actually dedicating time to only one thing. When I stumbled onto the idea of Slow Living as an actual concept it really resonated with me and I felt as though I wanted to spread the word about how important this is. Several articles and books later, I have fallen in love with Slow Living even more than before. I now consciously focus on one thing at a time, I never over-fill my calendar and I try to enjoy eating, reading and taking baths with no distraction.

We can’t all live fully slow lives, our routine and commitments may not allow that. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t fit in one or two elements to help slow down. Sometimes the smallest things can make a difference, so don’t think your whole lifestyle needs a reshift. Start off small.

So here are a few books that I really feel encapsulate the idea and realities of Slow Living. They offer tips, advice and information about living life in a slower lane, helping you enjoy moments more and dedicating time to each task at hand.

Slow: Simple Living for a Frantic World

Brooke McAlary

Are you constantly striving to keep up with life’s busy expectations? It’s easy to feel consumed with the desire to “succeed” and “acquire,” and miss the simple opportunities waiting for you to slow down: a walk in the forest, sharing laughter with family, a personal moment of gratitude…

Slow provides practical advice and insights into the benefits and challenges of the slow life, such as:

– Decluttering to de-owning
– Messiness to mindfulness
– Asking why, to asking where to now?

Slow is meant for anyone seeking peace, meaning, and joy in their otherwise rapid lives. Slowly–of course.

Destination Simple

Brooke McAlary

We live life in the fast lane. We are over-worked, over-connected and over-stressed, and we compete over how busy and important and sleep-deprived we are. But we don’t have to.

There’s an ever-growing group of people opting out of a life lived at 110%. They are choosing to slow down, simplify, say no and focus on the things that are truly important.

Brooke McAlary shows readers that no matter how busy you are, you too can feel in control of your days; minimize stress; find pockets of peace on even the busiest day; empty your mind and sleep better.
